I became interested in user experience and user interface design after a long period of not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. Starting my path by leaving school a year early to go to college for computer arts and animation. After realising it wasn't for me- I went on to explore a more generalised digital media course. One of the modules in the course was 'New Media (UX/UI Design)'.This was when my interest in user experience started it kept me engaged and started my passion for the discipline. It allowed me to express my creative and practical brain. Combining my problem-solving and strategy skills with my artistic ones. I naturally progressed into university, where I developed a lot of my core skills and instilled further my love for UX and UI design.
My first digital product role was at Arnold Clark, I was able to learn and grow a lot within this role. Understanding how to work in an agile product environment to deliver a great digital experience for customers. I was a core part of converting the old Sketch libraries into a fully fleshed-out design library in Figma. Along with contributing to the wider design system at Arnold Clark. Every and any company can benefit from design systems, so I am keen to continue to focus on design systems as a speciality. Building comprehensive and functional systems and can respond to the needs of the wider designer ecosystem.
I have a very active 'always learning' mentality. Constantly looking to improve both professionally and personally. Through many learning mediums of reading, watching videos, listening to podcasts and actively applying these newfound insights. If there are skills I lack or areas that need improving I will proactively look at ways to further develop.
